Magic Works: A PHP Outreach Activity, 1 April 2006 [31 Mar 2006|08:31pm]

hm_cherie
Pinoy Harry Potter, in cooperation with McDonald's, is organizing "Magic Works: A PHP Outreach Activity", a magical day of fun activities with the orphans of the Jesus Loves the Little Children Foundation (JLLCF). This activity will be held on Saturday, 1 April 2006, from 2pm to 6pm. There will be a storytelling session, UNO games, and a live Quidditch game with the kids. In addition to that, JLLCF is our chosen beneficiary for the PHP Book Drive. We are turning over the more than 300 books that PHP's witches and wizards generously donated last year.

SCHEDULE OF ACTIVITIES:
2:00-2:30pm -- Opening Remarks and Formal Handover of Books to Foundation officers
2:30-3:00pm -- Storytelling Sessions for the Younger Kids
-- Quidditch briefing for the older kids
3:00-3:30pm -- snacks
3:30-4:00pm -- UNO demonstrations (all age groups)
4:00-4:30pm -- UNO Tournament (all age groups)
4:30-6:00pm -- Half-Court Live Quidditch Game for Older Kids (Teamed up with PHP members)

In line with this, PHP students are encouraged to volunteer as facilitators for the UNO games and the Quidditch games. Snacks will be provided for official volunteers, and House Points and Galleons will be awarded accordingly. There are 10 slots open for interested members from Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. Unsorted members are also welcome. Gryffindors must report to the Common Room if they want to participate. If the 10 volunteer slots have been filled-up, members can still attend the activity as regular participants. Only official volunteers will be provided snacks, but participants will still be awarded House Points.

JLCCF is located at 19-A Esguerra St., Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City. A location map will be uploaded here, and Portkeys will be designated soon.

We hope you will join us in celebrating Fred and George Weasley's birthday by helping to share some fun and magic with the children.

This activity was organized by Hogwarts Philippines Gryffindor House for the Pinoy Harry Potter Community

Forum Update [26 Feb 2006|01:46am]

hm_cherie
Hello, witches and wizards!

I know most of you want to know whether or not we'll be getting our old forum back. Sadly, we still haven't had much luck trying to revive it. :(

The temporary forum - phpBB - isn't very user-friendly and it doesn't have the same wonderful features Invision offers. And this brings me to a slightly good news: We now have another Invision Power Board. :)

Prof. Skywalker and I have tried our best to make it as similar to the old one as possible--- if not better. The forums and categories have already been set up. There are no posts yet, however. We're still praying that we can actually get those back and transfer it to the new forums.

But for now, we'll have to make do with what we have.

After all, that's one of the things PHP is great at: to be the best out of everything and to make the most out of (almost) nothing. ;)

When muggle life eases up on me a bit, I'll try to create the old threads based on the ones I've saved in my PC. But for now, spread the magic at our new forums, dear witches and wizards! Spread the PHP Love! :)
